FMMC Applauds Passage of Medical Device Tax Moratorium
Congressional Victory for Florida Medical Manufacturers

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA (December 18, 2015) – The Florida Medical Manufacturers Consortium (FMMC) applauded Congress for passage of a two-year suspension of the medical device excise tax in the year-end budget bill.

“The FMMC would like to thank the members of Florida’s Congressional delegation who have supported suspension and full repeal of the punitive medical device tax. With 662 medical device manufacturers, Florida is home to one of our nation’s largest medical device economies, employing nearly 21,000 Floridians. The medical device tax has been eroding our international dominance and competitiveness in the medical technology sector, and has siphoned off precious resources for research and development and job creation. Bi-partisan majorities in both chambers have made it very clear: the medical device tax is very bad policy and should be erased permanently from our laws,” said FMMC Chairman Geary Havran, President & Chairman of NDH Medical, Inc.
